When installing, both sides of the lamp should be pushed forward at the same time. If pressure is applied on one side more than the other, the spring film behind the lamp will jam the lamp and can cause it to break from uneven stress. Please view our install video below

As I was inserting the light it cracked. Not sure why this would happen

Hello, that may happen when the third brake light is installed with a bit too much force, that causes stress on the lens. It needs to be installed while gently pushing both sides of the lens in.
