S550 vs S650 Mustang Rear Spoilers: Which Style Fits Your Build?
Shopping for a Mustang rear spoiler gets confusing fast. Search results mix 2015 cars with 2024 cars, “GT500 style” shows up on three different shapes, and half the photos are on a car that isn’t yours. So here’s the short version before anything else: S550 and S650 spoilers are not interchangeable. Pick your chassis first, then pick the style.
This guide covers the real spoilers we stock at Next-Gen Speed for the 2015–2023 S550 (EcoBoost, GT, GT350/R, Mach 1, GT500) and the 2024+ S650 (EcoBoost, GT, Dark Horse). You won’t find made-up downforce numbers or fake “sale ends Sunday” timers here. Just the styles, the fitment notes from each product page, and prices we checked on the live site on October 6, 2026. Prices and stock change, so check the product page before you buy.

Quick answer: S550 vs S650 rear spoilers
The S650 (2024+) has a different rear deck, trunk lid, and taillight layout than the S550 (2015–2023). Spoilers are shaped to the trunk lid they mount on, so a part built for one generation is not listed for the other. Our spoiler listings are built around one generation, and some are coupe-only.
- S550 (2015–2023): the classic choices are the GT350R-style ducktail, the GT-style trunk spoiler, and the taller GT500-style wing, which you can top with a wickerbill.
- S650 (2024+): here you’re looking at the GT Performance-style spoiler, Dark Horse-style wings (with or without a smoked wickerbill), the low GTV-style lip, and ducktails in ABS or carbon fiber.
If a listing doesn’t clearly say your generation and body style (coupe or convertible), don’t guess. Ask us.
S550 Mustang spoiler styles (2015–2023)
GT350R-style ducktail: low, clean, track-inspired

The GT350R lip is a favorite on the S550 because it looks like it came from the factory, just a little sharper. It sits low on the deck and lets the taillights and body lines stay the focus.
- 2015–23 Mustang GT350R Style Ducktail Rear Spoiler is ABS. When we checked it was $134.99 in matte black and $144.99 in gloss black (marked down from $170.00), and both were in stock. A carbon fiber finish also appears on the listing, so check the product page for its current price. The fitment line on the page lists 2015–2023 coupe and convertible. Installation instructions are not included.
GT-style trunk spoiler: the budget-friendly refresh
Want a subtle change without spending much? The GT-style spoiler is the most affordable way to update the rear of an S550.
- Ford Mustang GT Style Painted Matte Black Trunk Spoiler was $68.99 unpainted and $118.99 painted matte black, both in stock when checked. The page lists 2015–2023 fitment and says it will not fit convertibles. The shipping note says to allow 2–5 days, or 2–4 weeks if it goes on backorder.
GT500-style wing: more height, more attitude

The GT500-style wing stands taller than the ducktail and makes the rear look a lot more serious. It’s also the base for a wickerbill if you want to go further.
- 2015–23 Mustang GT500 Style Gloss Black Spoiler was $159.99 (down from $225.00) and in stock when checked.
- 2015–23 Mustang GT500 Style Rear Trunk Spoiler (unpainted black ABS) was $135.99 (down from $200.00) and in stock. This is the one to buy if your body shop is going to paint-match it.
Both GT500-style listings are 2015–2023 coupe only (no convertibles). Test fit before you paint, because painted parts void the warranty according to the product page.
Wickerbills for the S550

- 2015–23 Mustang GT500 Track Pack Wicker Bill is made in the USA from 3/16″ Lexan, in Short or Tall and Standard or Dark Tint. Prices ran $139.69–$150.69 depending on options, all in stock when checked. The spoiler is not included. Your car needs a factory or aftermarket 2020 GT500-style spoiler. The page lists a drill, an 11/64″ bit, and a rivet nut tool for the install, and notes a 2–3 business day lead time before it ships.
S650 Mustang spoiler styles (2024+)
GT Performance-style spoiler

If you like the look of the factory Performance Package wing but your car came without one, this is the style to start with.
- 2024–25 Mustang GT Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler is listed for 2024-present S650 models and was $139.98 in matte black and $179.98 in gloss black, in stock when checked. The page lists a carbon fiber finish too, so check there for that option’s price. It describes a bolt-on design with pre-drilled holes.
- Already running the GT Performance wing? The 2024+ Mustang S650 Carbon Fiber Wickerbill Extension was $309.98 and in stock. It’s listed for cars equipped with the GT Performance Package rear spoiler.
Dark Horse-style wing, with or without a wickerbill
This is the most aggressive look in the S650 lineup: a tall wing, and if you want it, a smoked gurney flap on top.
- 2024–25 Mustang S650 Dark Horse Rear Spoiler W/ Wickerbill includes the ABS trunk spoiler and a smoked polycarbonate gurney flap. It was $209.99 in matte black and $259.99 in gloss black, in stock when checked. The fitment line reads 2024–2025 coupe; will not fit convertible. Installation instructions are not included.
- 2024+ Mustang S650 Coupe Dark Horse Smoked Wickerbill is the gurney flap by itself at $99.99, in stock. It only fits coupes that already have the handling spoiler.
- There’s also a 2024–25 Mustang S650 Dark Horse Package Rear Spoiler listing ($219.98–$259.98 by finish). Call us to confirm fitment for your exact trim and body before you order it.
GTV-style and ducktail: the low-profile S650 options

Not every S650 needs a tall wing. The low options keep the new body lines clean and still make the rear look finished.
- 2024+ Mustang S650 GTV Style Rear Trunk Spoiler is painted gloss black ABS, listed for S650 EcoBoost, GT, Premium trims, and Dark Horse. It was $99.98 and in stock when checked.
- 2024+ S650 Mustang Rear Ducktail Wing Spoiler was $109.98 in matte black (marked down from $159.98) and $129.98 in gloss black (marked down from $199.98), in stock when checked. No sale end date is posted, so check the page.
- Want real carbon? The 2024–25 Mustang S650 Carbon Fiber Rear Ducktail Spoiler was $599.98 and in stock.

How to choose
- Confirm your generation. If it’s a 2015–2023, shop S550. If it’s a 2024 or newer, shop S650. Don’t mix them.
- Decide how loud you want the rear to be. A ducktail or GTV lip keeps it clean. A GT or GT Performance-style spoiler sits in the middle. The GT500 or Dark Horse wing, especially with a wickerbill, makes the biggest statement.
- Match the rest of the build. A tall wing looks right when the splitter, diffuser, and wheels are on the same level. On an otherwise stock car, a lip usually looks more intentional.
- Pick your finish. Unpainted ABS if you plan to paint-match, matte or gloss black for a ready-to-install contrast, carbon if you want the weave to show.
Fitment checklist before you order
- Year and generation (S550 2015–2023 or S650 2024+)
- Coupe or convertible. Several listings are coupe-only.
- Does the wickerbill need a specific base spoiler? (The GT500 Track Pack wicker bill and the Dark Horse smoked wickerbill both do.)
- Finish and whether you plan to paint. Test fit first.
- Install plan. Many listings say instructions are not included, and wickerbills can need drilling and rivet nuts.
- Lead time. Backorder notes on these pages run about 2–4 weeks depending on the item.

FAQ
What is the difference between S550 and S650 Mustang rear spoilers?
They’re built for different trunk lids. S550 spoilers fit 2015–2023 Mustangs, and S650 spoilers fit 2024+ cars with the redesigned rear deck. The styles are different too. S550 owners usually choose between GT350R, GT, and GT500 looks, while S650 owners choose between GT Performance, Dark Horse, GTV, and ducktail styles.
Will a 2015–2023 Mustang spoiler fit a 2024 Mustang?
No. We don’t list any S550 spoiler for the S650. Buy a spoiler listed for 2024+ S650 instead. If a product title and its fitment line seem to disagree, go by the fitment line and call us to confirm.
What rear spoiler styles are available for the S650 Mustang?
We currently list GT Performance-style, Dark Horse-style (with or without a smoked wickerbill), GTV-style, ABS ducktail, and carbon fiber ducktail spoilers, plus a carbon wickerbill extension for the GT Performance wing. See the S650 spoiler collection.
Does a Dark Horse spoiler with wickerbill fit convertible Mustangs?
Our Dark Horse Rear Spoiler W/ Wickerbill is listed for 2024–2025 coupes and says it will not fit convertibles. Convertible fitment varies by product, so check each listing’s fitment line and ask us before ordering for a convertible.
GT350R ducktail vs GT500 wing — which looks more aggressive on an S550?
The GT500-style wing. It sits higher and has a bigger profile, and adding a wickerbill makes it even more noticeable. The GT350R ducktail is the cleaner, lower look that a lot of owners pick for daily drivers.
Do Mustang rear spoilers need drilling or use factory mounts?
It depends on the product. Some listings, like the S650 GT Performance-style spoiler, describe a bolt-on design with pre-drilled holes. Others don’t include instructions, and wickerbills like the GT500 Track Pack piece call for drilling and rivet nuts. Read the product page, and if you’re not comfortable doing it, have a shop handle it. We install in Canton.
Can you add a wickerbill to a Mustang trunk spoiler?
Yes, as long as you have the right base spoiler. On the S550, the GT500 Track Pack wicker bill needs a 2020 GT500-style spoiler. On the S650, the smoked wickerbill needs the Dark Horse handling spoiler, and the carbon extension needs the GT Performance Package wing.
Matte black, gloss black, or carbon fiber — which finish lasts better outdoors?
Any of them can hold up well with care. Gloss shows swirl marks and scratches more easily but polishes back. Matte hides small marks but shouldn’t be polished or waxed with abrasive products. Carbon looks best with regular UV protection like a sealant or ceramic coating. If you plan to paint-match, start with unpainted and test fit first, because painted parts void the warranty on these listings.
